Day 202-204 Happy Memorial Day

It's been a good 9 zone days. But I will say, it seems extra long, even though it's one extra day then normal! Plus, I'm tired today. Been a busy week and a busy 9 days of getting my steps in every single day. Today, I may just take a break and try to relax before I weigh in tomorrow.

We are having a BBQ this afternoon so I will keep my food light all day until dinner so I can enjoy a good meal!

I have my free day tomorrow then another 9 zone days until my next weigh in. I'm choosing 9 over 8 days again because my daughter and I have the house to ourselves on June 11th and my daughter really wants me to have a free day so we can go do something fun and I'm not worried about my calories. So 9 zone days it is!

I hope everyone has a great Memorial Day but also takes the time to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and freedoms we enjoy today!

Day 201 - Challenges For Today

I am going to a girls night out with my staff from my shop tonight. Dinner and a movie! My challenge is I need to get as many steps in before tonight so I don't have to play catch up when I get home after 8pm! My other challenge is making sure my calories don't go too high! I really want popcorn! Our movie theater has been closed since March 2020 due to Covid so this is pretty exciting to see it open up! I have really missed their popcorn. So the plan is to get a couple of tacos with rice and beans and some popcorn. That should bring my total for today to just over 1400 calories. So I think it's doable with out going way over my daily limit of 1200 calories a day.

I feel like this week has been really slow going! I think I am just excited about how well I am doing and want to get to my weigh in. I WILL NOT weigh in before Tuesday! That has been a strict rule of mine because the scale messes with my head to much. So I need to stick to my plan and just be patient! LOL But sometimes that is hard. I'm glad I am having such a great week though.

Today should be fun. Off to have some Mexican food after work and the see The Quiet Place II. I will try to post how I did tomorrow!

200 Days On My Plan! Current Plan Details

I can't believe I have been on my new plan for 200 days! As of Saturday I have lost 41.8 pounds and that is getting through Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's Day, February Vacation, Easter & April Vacation! This has been by far the best track record I ever had. I am so comfortable with this plan, it just fits!

I've had my hiccups but not many. Mostly due to figuring out vacations and how to deal with them so it doesn't take me so long to get back to my weight before I left. I certainly don't want it to take a month for me to bring my weight down after returning from a vacation. I'll be just yo-yoing all summer long! LOL

This plan has definitely needed some tweaking but I think I have figured all the kinks out. I think my end result will work well and be a smoother transitions from summer, vacations and holidays.

The Plan As It Looks Today:

September - May ~

8 Zone Days - Stick around 1200 calories a day and try to burn 2700 calories per day.

1 Free Day - Track what I eat and not go over 3500 calories, but I am free to pick and choose favorite foods to enjoy.

June - August ~

5 Zone Days Per Week - I will have 5 days that I stick around 1200 calories a day and try to burn 2700 calories per day.

2 Free Days Per Week - I will have 2 free days per week. Tuesday & Saturday which are my days off. Again, tracking that I don't go over 3500 calories a day, but free to pick and choose favorite foods to enjoy.

Vacations ~

Calories allowed will be based on what I burn each day. The goal will be not to eat more calories then I burn each day. This worked very well for my April vacation. I was over an average of 200 calories per day, but I didn't do much exercise. Normally I move a lot on vacation!

I think this is a solid plan and hope that it will help me continue to lose weight! My goal is to maintain, but it would be nice to still lose a little weight each week during summer! Fingers crossed.!

Here's to another 165 days successful days on this plan. It will be nice to see where I am at the one year mark!

Day 198-199 - I Feel Amazing!

I have really been on my A game this week! My determination and motivation is better then ever! Here is how I've done this zone period so far:

Week Of 5/22/21Day 1 - SatDay 2 - SunDay 3 - MonDay 4 - Tues
Calories In3406120611691291
Calories Out2761279228442865
Defecit645-1586-1675-1574

I am feeling the best I have in a really long time. Physically and emotionally. Maybe the nice weather has something to do with it, but I think it's me. I'm happy! I have a lot of things to count my blessings for. Life is good and I hope it stays that way for awhile! Just 6 more days until my next free day and weigh in. I'm looking forward to seeing my results!

Fitbit Weekly Progress Report - 05/10/21-05/16/21

I decided it might be nice to share my weekly progress report on Fitbit on my blog. So I will start with the week before last which is 05/10/21 to 05/16/21. I usually get the report on Tuesday from Fitbit for the prior week.

Day 197 - Right On Track!

I have been feeling really good the past few days! I did well yesterday. My goal is to keep my calories consumed under 1200 calories and burn at least 2700 calories per day. I ate 1206 and burned 2792 yesterday! So far so good! By sticking to this goal it will give me a 1500 calorie deficit per day which should equal 3 pounds when all is said and done on weigh in day! I will actually have a deficit of over 12000 calories for my 9 zone days and one free day which should give me plenty of leeway to still see a 3 pound loss. Fingers crossed!

I am actually still hopeful that I can lose weight throughout summer as well. Even if it's just a half a pound a week or so. Beginning June 19th I begin my summer plan. I will take two free days a week which are my two days off from work each week. So I think it will still be possible to lose if I track my free days as well as my zone days. I'm so super motivated right now that I think I'm going to want to continue to work hard through summer as well!

I wish I could bottle up my motivation and save some of it for the times where I am not so motivated. LOL! But I don't think anyway has figured out how to do that yet! I am really hoping that I can keep the momentum and continue to drop weight on a regular basis during summer!

But for now, we will stick to focusing on this week! I'm looking forward to watching my progress for the next 8 days until I weigh in on June 1st! I got this!! Stay tuned...

My Next Goal - Hit the 50 Pounds Lost Mark!!

I have just 8.2 pounds to go to hit 50 pounds lost!! I want to hit this goal before my June vacation on the 19th! So that gives me 3 zone (on days) periods to do it!! My determination is high right now so I am going to run with it! I think I got this. That is 2.73 pounds a week! This will be my current challenge for myself! I CAN DO IT!! Now to get my butt moving! LOL!

More "On" Days This Go Around!

In order for me to have at least 8 on days for the next 3 "on" periods before I start my vacation on June 19th I had to add one extra "on" day somewhere so I added to this coming "on" period.

Hhhmmmm, I'm wondering if I need to change the name of my "on" period. LOL! Just to make describing it easier. I will ponder that! LOL!

Anyway, I'm not too concerned about one extra day. I am so extremely motivated right now, I think it is actually a really good thing!

I should get into the 220's by my next weigh in and I am so excited!!

Ok, I thought about it. I will now call my "on" days zone days and my "off days free days! Maybe that will simplify things! LOL! I'm just sick of using quotes!

Day 196 - Before & After Photos - Down 41.8 pounds!

I decided it was time to share some before and after photos of my progress! So I had my son take some photos of me this morning!

Pictures taken this morning:

Let's Look At The Numbers

My 9 day numbers are below! Let's take a look at how I did!

Period For: 5/13/21 - 5/21/21

Total Calories Consumed: 13015

Total calories Burned: 25252

Total Calorie Deficit: 12237

Loss This Week: 2.8 Pounds

Calories Deficit Needed To Lose 2.8 Pounds: 9800

Off By: 2437!

I have always had this theory that fitness trackers don't track calorie burn as well when you exercise more. They tend to estimate too many calories burned. So I am testing this theory with the Fitbit. Last time I figured the numbers I was only off by 602 calories. Which wasn't bad when we are talking 9100 from 9702. To me that is pretty accurate.

I exercised more so I can test the theory better this time around BUT I can not really confirm this during this time frame because my period started yesterday and I don't know if that effected my weight loss number! I have had issues with my period effecting my weigh in in the past.

In reality, I should have lost just over 3 pounds based on my calorie burn. I figure you can still call the Fitbit accurate as long as it's not off by more then 500 - 1000 calories depending on the time frame. So was my loss less then predicted by the numbers due to the accuracy of the Fitbit OR my period? That I don't know.

I will try to go through another week of lots of exercise so we can revisit this question again next weigh in, which is June 1st! The only other difference in my next on day period is I am actually going to have 9 on days rather then 8 and then an off day. This was an adjustment to even out my on days to match up with my vacation!

It will be interesting to see how I do the next time around! Either way, I am very pleased with my weight loss! I'm researching the accuracy of the Fitbit more as a fun little project and to help motivate me to exercise more!

Day 195 - Weigh In Day! I'm A Big Loser!

I weighed in this morning and I am down 2.8 pounds!! Woohoo. My hard work paid off!

I am so close to getting in the 220's! I am so excited!!!

Day 194 - Excited But Nervous For My Weigh In Tomorrow!

I am very excited for my weigh in tomorrow but also nervous. I just started my period today and I don't want that to effect the number on the scale!! Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. So I'm hopeful the bloating will be at a minimum so I can get accurate results tomorrow! I have done fantastic the last couple of days. I had a 2000 calorie deficit yesterday as I walked and did TKD so lots of extra calories burned!!

I am trying to get the exercise in today. I didn't go for a walk this morning but have tried to sneak in steps where I can. I do plan on doing TKD with the kids tonight to get in some really good exercise and take a walk if need be. I want to finish the week on a high note!

I was emotionally not in a good place last night or this morning but am better now, so I think I should have another great day! That is the plan anyway!

Starting To Feel It In My Clothes!

I am really starting to feel the difference in my clothes! This is super exciting! It took a little bit for me to notice because I distribute my weight all over and it's not so concentrated in one place. So 10 to 20 pounds at first doesn't seem to make a whole lot of difference. But I am definitely noticing a difference now. Especially over the last few days. My 3X shirts are huge!! They were big but now they are swimming on me. My 2X shirts are getting baggy. I hope to go to XL again by vacation! Fingers crossed.

My shorts are definitely having a harder time staying up, too! I may have to get a belt. LOL! Not a bad thing! Feeling good today knowing my hard work is paying off in many ways!!

Update 05/23/21: I was able to wear my XL T-Shirt today! Woohoo!

Day 190 - 193 Better News & Doing Amazing!!

In regards to my taxes, we found a huge error and found out we don't owe nearly as much as we thought we did! Few! Thank god we found the error! Made this week 100 times better!

I have had a stellar on period this go around!! I have totally been on my A game! I am trying to make a huge effort to lose as much weight before mid-June, when our first vacation starts! I am utilizing the data I ran last week for my calorie burn info to help me perhaps have a really good week this week. My goal is to try to drop over 3 pounds this week to get into the 220's!! Now I have to have a deficit of 11500 calories and that may still not be enough and will depend on the accuracy of my Fitbit! But it's a chance I want to take. It will help me continue to test how accurate the Fitbit and my calorie counting actually is!

So far I have a deficit 8200 calories this week and I still have today and tomorrow! It will be a challenge but I think I can do it! I need to lose 3.3 pounds to hit 229.9 pounds! That is a 11550 calorie deficit I need this week to hit that mark! I will try to go a little over that just in case, but I won't lie, it will not be easy! But I will do my best!!

If I don't hit my goal I am content with that. I know that this is a test and my calorie deficit may not be enough to get there, but I at least want to try!

Day 187-189 - May Has Been Difficult, But I'm Sticking With My Plan!

May has been a very challenging month! But I am amazed out how well I have gotten through it all. Here are a few things that have happened that have been very difficult:

  • Found out an employee stole over $1000 from my shop.
  • A really good friend of mine is dealing with a tragedy that occurred with her son.
  • My shop cat died.
  • We just found out that we owe a ton of money to the IRS that is pretty much going to wipe out our savings account.

And that is just to name the big stuff. I can't handle any more bad news! But I am determined to not falter! Hopefully this will be the end of the major bad news for awhile! I am just thankful I've been able to get through it all without using food as a coping mechanism!

I will take a deep breath and move forward from it all and try to remember the positive! We have a wonderful home that is getting an amazing remodel, we have land to enjoy this summer, I have amazing friends and family that are supportive and an amazing husband and kids who are always there for me.

Evaluating My Current Diet Plan - What's Working?

I haven't been 233 pounds since 9/28/18!! And that only lasted for a brief period of time! And from what I can tell in my records, I haven't been 225 pounds since 12/2/16. That is a whopping 4.5 years ago!

I am feeling really good about my progress right now. This has been a great diet change for me that really seems to fit my lifestyle and is easy for me to follow and maintain for a lifetime. As I tweak it, it only seems to get better! Here is what seems to be working the best with my new plan:

  • Eating high protein for my breakfast and lunch keeps me full and prevents snacking at work and home!
  • I still can have the foods I love and can enjoy them on my "off" day.
  • I do better knowing I'm not really giving up anything.
  • I can enjoy plenty of carbs at night such as pasta and bread without any impact.
  • Eating out has become easier as I find foods I really enjoy that are lower in calorie.
  • Only weighing myself on my 9th day really prevents me from seeing too many fluctuations and I get discouraged less.
  • I don't seem to crave things when I eat high protein. I hadn't really noticed until I read an article about how more protein in your diet can do this and I realized that cravings have really not been an issue lately. Just an occasional snafu!
  • Even during stressful times in my life, it seems I can maintain my diet.
  • Yes I have hiccups, but for the most part, it's because I have been trying to figure out vacations and how to deal with them.
  • Eating not much more then I burn on a daily basis during my vacations seems to cause the least amount of fluctuation to my weight. So this will now be my plan going forward when we vacation!

So all in all, this diet that I created for myself has really worked for me. I am looking forward to seeing where I will be at by the end of this year!!

Day 184 - 186 - A Great Finish & Weigh In!

I had a great rest of my 8 days on and felt I had done very well! I was a little nervous because I was worried that stress would effect my weigh in yesterday! On top of the other stuff that has been going on my shop cat Houdini passed away suddenly on Wednesday morning. We found this little guy in the shed behind my garage last spring/summer. He was just a kitten. My guess was he was born in March of 2020. So he was just over a year old. He was perfectly healthy and happy so I don't know what caused him to cross the rainbow bridge. We love and miss his crazy playful self around the shop.

My weigh in went exceptionally well yesterday. I was down to 233.2!! That is down a whopping 2.6 pounds from my last weigh in. I think watching what I eat and writting it down on my off days have been a real benefit! I also made sure my average calories for the 8 days remained under 1300 calories per day!

Let's Play With The Numbers ~

It's a numbers game, the numbers don't lie!

Total Calories Consumed Over 9 Days (Includes Off Day On May 4th) - 13664

Average Calories Consumbed Per Day - 1518.

Total Calories Burned 23366

Average Burn Per Day: 2596

Total Deficit of 9702

Total Deficit Per Day 1078

It takes a deficit of 9100 calories to lose 2.6 pounds.

What does this tell me? That my Fitbit is pretty darn accurate when it comes to daily activity. Also, minor errors in calorie counting could come into play here as well! I do think when it comes to some activities it's not as accurate, but for walking and exercise that is not intense it does a great job!! I may do this every week to see how close my Fitbit is actually hitting the mark! Even for days I am VERY active. Who said math couldn't be fun!??

Recipe - Mexi Ranch Rice Bowl

Blanca's Mexi Ranch Rice Bowl

This is a delicious meal I made last night that my whole family loved!

Mexi Ranch Rice

Ingredients -

1 Pound 90% Lean Ground Beef

1 Cup Of Corn (I use frozen)

1 Can Kidney Beans or Black Beans (About the same in calories)

1 Cup Of Cheese

1 TBSP Minced Garlic

Salt & Pepper

2 Cups Uncooked Brown Rice Brown Rice (or White Rice)

5 Cups Water

Salsa

Ranch Dressing

Lime Juice

Meat Topping -

Combine ground beef, garlic, salt & pepper to your pan. Cook ground beef mixture until beef is brown. Add corn and beans and cook for about 10 minutes on low until everything is heated through. Add cheese and heat until melted.

Rice -

Cook your rice per the directions on the bag. Brown rice takes 5 cups of water on the stove but will use less if cooking in a pressure cooker. See your pressure cooker instructions for more details. You can also use white rice but check your cooking directions for how much water to use as it uses less then brown rice. The calories are not much different.

Combine -

Once rice is cooked serve 1 cup in a bowl and then place a 1/2 cup serving the of the beef mixture on top. Add Mexi Ranch Dressing over the beef and rice.  Mix together! Yummy! See information on the Mexi-Ranch Dressing below.

Mexi-Ranch Dressing -

Combine one half ranch dressing to one half salsa. Pretty much a 50/50 mix. Stir in a squeeze of lime juice. Add to taste, so play around with the recipe. Mix and drizzle over your meat & rice. I add about 2 tbsp to my one serving of rice and meat.

You can do a 25/75 ratio that is more salsa and less ranch for an even healthier dressing. It will also be less calories.

It's as easy as that!

Calories For The Meat Topping ~

Other Calories ~

Brown Rice For 1 Cup is 216 calories per cup. You should be able to find it in your calorie counting app.

Ranch is 140 Calories per 2 tbsps. Again, this should be easy to find in your calorie counting app.

Salsa is only 10 calories for 2 tbsps. Search in your calorie counting app.

So if you do a 50/50 ratio, you are looking at 75 calories per 2 tbsps of Mexi Ranch.

Total calories per serving: 491

Day 178-183 Trying Week But I'm Not Faltering!!

This week has been extremely challenging for me, but I am happy to report that I have not faltered with my eating one bit. I discovered last week that an employee was stealing from me. I fired her Thursday morning once I confirmed it was her by setting up a situation that gave her the opportunity to steal again. She took the bate hook, line and sinker.

Then a friend of mine is dealing with a really horrible situation with her adult son and my heart breaks for both of them. So it's been a long emotional week. But I have NOT used food to cope with the emotions that I have had during this time.

I did well Mother's Day and did allow myself a few extra calories, but behaved for the most part. Ended the day with 1840 calories and walked over 8000 steps! My plan is to cut back a little the next couple of days to help with the extra calories from yesterday.

I weigh in next on Thursday! Fingers crossed I have another loss!

Day 171 - 177 Finally, Weigh In Day!

I've had a great 8 days on! Stayed on track the whole time. I was excited to weigh in this morning!

I am excited to share I am down to 235.8 this morning. That is down from my last weigh in on 4/17/21 of 241.4 right before my vacation. A total loss of 5.6 pounds and down 3 pounds from my lowest weight on this plan of 238.8 on 3/29/21!

I have now lost 36.4 pounds since 11/9/20.

I am super happy I am back on track!!
